Do you ‘whack things up on Facebook’ or are you a content curator?
Are your posts meaningful exchanges designed to create community, or thinly veiled attempts to sell more product?
In this interview on TED.com, Fernanda Romano (Dulux’s ‘Lets color’ project) talks about being a content curator in reference to developing advertising campaigns that evoke emotion and are artefacts in their own right.
And all the same points can be made with regards to content writing.
Asking ‘what am I adding to the conversation?’ and ‘how might this information assist another?’ are important precursors to hitting the post/publish/share button. Meaningful exchanges build community and create positivity around your brand or message. Content curation is a terrific term which captures the importance of quality content writing.
